Why Use Heat?
Heat treatments are a popular, environmentally friendly alternative to using chemicals to eliminate bed bug infestations. There is abundant scientific evidence that bed bugs are becoming increasingly resistant to chemicals but are physically not capable of surviving elevated ambient (above 122°F) temperatures. Heat treatments are the only way to ensure all stages of bed bug life (eggs, nymphs and adults) have been killed in a single treatment.
Eliminate Bed Bugs With Heat Here In Whitby
The two main treatments methods for bed bugs are heat treatments and chemical treatments.
While heat treatments are usually over double the price, there is a reason for this. Heat treatments are suppose to be a one session treatment to kill every bed bug in one shot. Bed bugs die at a minimum of 50 degrees celsius so the entire space needs to be heated to this level. As the temperature starts to rise bed bugs get more active and come out of the areas where they are hiding. This is one of the main reasons heat treatments are so successful. Bed bugs are great hiders but when they are drawn out from their hiding spots it makes them easy to kill. The exterminator still needs to have skill and experience killing bed bugs with a heat treatment. They must move around personal items in the heat to avoid any cold spots the bed bugs may of found as a last change to survive. For this reason we recommend hiring a bed bug heat treatment specialists instead of a general pest control company.
Chemical treatments on the other hand are more common than heat treatments for the reason that it’s been around longer and a way easier treatment to execute compared to a heat treatment. Pest control companies can also charge a premium for the reason that bed bugs are harder to exterminator than other pests that are normally sprayed for. The issue with chemical treatments is the fact that it’s difficult to hit every bed bug with the spray. The residual is usually not enough to kill them either. Multiple chemical treatments will add up to a higher cost than a heat treatment without the guarantee of full elimination of bed bugs. They reproduce very fast and for this reason we only offer heat treatments here at Bed Bug Heat Relief.
Don't Let The Bed Bugs Spread Around Whitby
Heat treatments are an effective way to kill bed bugs by heating the area to a minimum of 122°F for at least 4 hours. It will be most effective and will kill every bed bug if the exterminator is skilled and experienced. The exterminator needs to monitor the heat and move around personal belongings to eliminate any cold spots. It takes a skilled exterminator to withstand this kind of heat and remember what he has and hasn’t moved around. We are two owner operators who have 5+ years each in exterminating bed bugs with heat.
